The Mohegan take-down recurve bow from Greatree Archery is available in such a broad selection of draw weights and sizes that there is literally one available to suit all archers from ages eight to eighty-eight. The eight-year olds can start out with the 48 inch version (listed separately under Kid's Bows) and the 54-inch version is perfect for the ten-to-twelve year olds. (See Quick Top below for more specific recommendations) The 62, 66, and 68-inch versions of the Mohegan are full-sized adult bows, so physical size is more important than age.
The beautifully laminated wood riser of the Mohegan is perfectly balanced and feels just right in your bow hand making it a excellent choice for traditionalists who appreciate the warmth of natural materials. It is the ideal target bow for beginners but it has shooting qualities that will also make it attractive to intermediate shooters. The Mohegan requires no tools, other than a bow stringer (provided), to disassemble. Removing the limbs from the riser for transport and storage is as easy as unstringing the bow and removing two thumb screws.
The Manchester Mohegan Take-Down recurve bow from Greatree Archery has been one of he most successful wood-riser target bows ever produced. It is capable of excellent accuracy, it doesn't break the bank to buy, and with interchangeable limbs it is flexible enough to grow with the shooter. Plus with its laminated wood riser, it is lovely to look at.
Beginners can start shooting the Mohegan as soon as it arrives as we will install a Hoyt Super Rest and a nock point for you. However, the riser is fully equipped with industry-standard bushings for a target sight, advanced arrow rest, and a stabiliser so that as an archer advances from beginner to intermediate, accessories can be added to increase the capabilities of the bow as the owner requires them.
Here at NZAP we realise that buying a bow for the first time over the internet or on the telephone can be a bit risky, especially if you haven't used a bow before and don't know, exactly, which draw length is best for you. for this reason, we have initiated an exchange policy that remains in effect for 30 day from the day your bow is delivered (or from the day the package is opened in the case of a birthday or Christmas gift). That way, if the bow you have ordered doesn't exactly suit the new archer's needs, it is a simple matter to exchange the limbs for the correct ones. There is no limit on the number of exchanges so it is possible to try several sizes in the time provided. In fairness, we do ask you keep th limbs in good nick and to pay the standard postage fees for each exchange.
Your new Mohegan target bow is not delicate by any means, but as a piece of precision equipment it will require some care. We recommend that the bow never be strung or unstrung using the old over-the-foot, under-the-knee technique as this can damage the limbs. It is important to always use a proper bow stringer so NZAP is providing one free of charge with every new Mohegan. Mohegan recurves are available in right and left-hand models in the following configurations: 62-inch models are available in draw weights from 16 thru 40 pounds in two-pound increments. 66-inch models are available in draw weights from 16 thru 36 pounds in four-pound increments, 68-inch models are available in draw weights from 20 thru 36 pounds in 4-pound increments.
